die kleine is don, de lange is sjon

'Die kleine is Don, de lange is Sjon' won the Zilveren Griffel award in 2021.
Looking for a funny book for a beginning reader? This children's book features six short, comic-like stories about the funny friends Don and Sjon. It is also great for reading aloud together.

From the Jury Report:
Don and Sjon are birds. One is small, the other is tall. One is energetic, the other is down-to-earth. They are best friends and live together in a little house, though even friendship has its ups and downs. Like when Don eats all the cookies. ‘Boy oh boy, some friend you are. I am going to find a new friend.’ Or when lanky Sjon doesn't quite know what to do with his housemate's new friends: ‘Have a seat. Make yourself at home.’ ‘No,’ says Don. ‘We are not going to sit. We are going to run!’

Catharina Valckx offers six deadpan stories about a duo that believes in each other's goodness despite minor irritations. In deceptively simple language, this convincing book from the special Tijgerlezen series touches on core feelings about friendship and falling in love. Dive into the funny world of Don and Sjon.
