bunnies by the bay

The American brand Bunnies by the Bay is the sweet creation of sisters Krystal Kirkpatrick and Suzanne Knutson. Since 1986, this family business has been making handmade plush animals that offer comfort and support to their human pals.

The endearing plush toys from Bunnies by the Bay are reminiscent of the friendly animals from the stories of Beatrix Potter. The Bunnies by the Bay family consists of bunny plushies, woodland animal plushies, sea animal plushies, and farm animal plushies. This way, there is a suitable buddy to be found for every child.

The home port of Bunnies by the Bay is Fidalgo Island on the west coast of North America. When Krystal and Suzanne lost their father, uncle, and cousin after a major storm, their grandmother comforted the sisters with stories about little bunnies that lived in her garden. Inspired by their grandma's stories, Krystal and Suzanne began making up their own stories and making fabric plush animals. Their home island of Fidalgo became Cricket Island, and the sisters based their plush animals on friends, family members, and acquaintances from the fishing village.

Four decades later, the sisters still design all the Bunnies by the Bay plushes themselves. Every plush is handmade with love and care in Hutch Studio, the original workshop where the Bunnies by the Bay story once began. The handiwork and use of vintage textiles make every plush from Bunnies by the Bay just as unique as its human friend.

Because the founders of Bunnies by the bay experienced firsthand how important support is during difficult times, the brand is committed to various non-profit organizations for children in America.
