lampje

'Lampje' from uitgeverij Querido, winner of the 2018 Gouden Griffel award, tells the story of Emilia, nicknamed Lampje. She is the lighthouse keeper's daughter, who gets sent away from home after failing to light the lighthouse on a stormy night.

She ends up in a spooky house where a merboy hides under the bed in the tower room.

Looking for a story about the sea? 'Lampje' tells of mysterious sea creatures and fierce pirates. Of the Admiral's Black House, where people say a monster lives. Of a gray lighthouse on an island that barely clings to the mainland. Of Lampje, the lighthouse keeper's daughter, who climbs the sixty-one steps every evening to light the lamp. Of a stormy night when the matches run out and everything goes wrong.
Above all, it is a tale about being brave and doing more than you ever thought possible.
