het kabouterboek

Learn all about gnomes in the imaginative children's book 'Het Kabouterboek' by Loes Riphagen. A book about the life of the modern gnome had been on the wish list of the author of 'Coco kan het!' for years. Once you see the illustrations in 'Het Kabouterboek', you will immediately understand why: Loes poured all the creativity, originality, and imagination she brims with every day right into these pages. Not to mention her love for drawing teeny-tiny items and little jokes on every single page. Awarded a Zilveren Penseel 2024.

With her loving attention to the gnome, our tiny (and often invisible) fellow creature, Loes Riphagen once again shows what a great picture book maker she is. Loes drew inspiration from everyday things to make the world of gnomes as tangible as possible. Little gnome Kik takes you along into the world of the modern gnome. Discover how gnomes live, what they do and craft all day long, and how they manage to stay so well hidden. From step-by-step instructions for making a gnome hat to a cross-section of a gnome house, every page is a feast for the eyes!

From the Griffels en Penselen 2024 Jury Report:
"Loes Riphagen let her imagination run wild in search-and-find pages, overview illustrations, and detailed lists. The frames are well thought out, offering plenty of variety and humor. It is playful and packed with tiny details, like the Fruittella wrappers popping up everywhere, so you keep spotting new things and can get lost in the pages. Sometimes with a nod to earlier work, such as Coco's dress-up costume."
