gelukkig en blij

In the children's poetry collection 'Gelukkig en blij', Edward van de Vendel and Martijn van der Linden show through touching, funny, and sometimes serious poems that happiness hides in many different things. This children's book won a Zilveren Griffel award in 2024.

The cats Hannes and Hassan, the little donkeys, the turtles, the mama pig with her piglets, the dwarf rabbit and the goldfish, the birds: they all live happily on the farm. The more predictable their days are, the better they like it. Sometimes their quiet life gets shaken up, leaving them no choice but to get used to something new. Even then, happiness often turns out to be right around the corner!

Looking for a book that celebrates the joy of reading? This heartwarming poetry collection with enchanting color illustrations delights everyone from age 10 and well beyond.

From the 2024 Griffels and Penselen Jury Report:
"It remains a wonder how Van de Vendel plays with language. He stretches it out, lets it bounce, and plops it right back into the words on the page. This introduces children to the boundless possibilities of language. Social criticism is present too, without being moralistic or preachy. For Van de Vendel, it is all about the pleasure of reading."
