atlas van de aarde

In the informative children's book 'Atlas van de aarde', astronaut André Kuipers takes young readers on a space journey around the Earth.

Want to travel around the world in 90 minutes? You can! Fly along aboard a rocket. The view of our Earth is more beautiful than you could ever dream! During the day, our planet looks like a glowing blue marble. At night, you spot countless lights on land and at sea. Because the Earth rotates on its own axis, you discover a different piece of our planet every single time.

The rocket travels at 28,000 kilometers per hour. That means you fly a full lap around the globe in 90 minutes, making sixteen trips a day. In Atlas van de Aarde, you look down from space at sixteen very special places, one for every orbit around the Earth. These places tell us a lot about the Earth and offer a brand-new perspective on the planet we call home.
