Baby book

There are plenty of good reasons to pick up a baby book. Reading aloud boosts language skills and sparks the imagination, so it is never too early to introduce books. In the first few months, the little one sees a bit more almost every week, making a baby book a wonderful way to keep discovering new things. For the very youngest, we have a wide variety of baby books at ilovespeelgoed.nl, from soft touch-and-feel books to funny lift-the-flap books.

The loveliest baby books

At ilovespeelgoed.nl, our collection features the loveliest baby books, such as 'Guess How Much I Love You'. When you hold a newborn in your arms, this thought will undoubtedly cross your mind. It is no wonder the popular book starring Little Nutbrown Hare has become such a favorite. Dick Bruna's colorful, bold illustrations are also a treat for babies to look at. Singing songs with our music books is another wonderful activity, as babies respond strongly to your voice and different sounds. On top of that, we have plenty of children's books for reading aloud.

Why read aloud to a baby?

Even in the womb, a baby is already working on language development by picking up on sounds and the rhythm of words. That is why it is great to start reading aloud to a baby as early as possible. At the same time, it practices listening skills and concentration. Reading from our reading and storybooks teaches a child about the world around them and strengthens your bond.

How do you read aloud to a baby?

Use your voice when reading aloud. Babies pick up on emotions, sounds, and rhythm very well. Keep reading sessions short and pick a set time of day. Five little minutes before sleep is more than enough for a baby, and it is a great start to a bedtime routine.

Reading aloud is the start of the best adventures

Reading sparks the imagination in both adults and children. Even with just a picture book full of beautiful illustrations, you can go on the best adventures. That is how powerful the brain is! To get that brain going, you need books, and at ilovespeelgoed.nl we have them in abundance, right alongside our toys. Here are a few helpful tips for reading aloud:

• Involve the baby in the story: make eye contact, point at pictures, and respond to babbles.
• Play with your voice: speak slowly or quickly, whisper, cheer happily, or put another emotion into your voice.
• Keep it quiet: turn off the television and music while reading aloud.
• Keep reading time short: five minutes is plenty for a baby.
• Pick a set time: right before bed is a wonderful moment. Reading aloud is a lovely way to wind down.
