What is Marblelous?

The construction toys from Marblelous invite everyone to build together, test things out, and try again. Stephan van Lumig founded the brand in 2020 with a clear goal: encouraging children and adults to take their creative thinking to a whole new level.

A single set lets you team up to build marble runs, whether you want to start with a simple track or craft increasingly complex creations.

The modular parts work on different surfaces, both indoors and outdoors, and even combine with LEGO bricks! This creates fresh tracks with new obstacles and pathways every time, turning problems into clever solutions. Marblelous playfully encourages STEM learning, making it a great fit for classrooms too. Thanks to separate expansion sets and other options, Marblelous grows right along with you and offers fresh building possibilities time and again for the whole class or family.

Beyond the standard track

What makes the Dutch brand Marblelous so special is the way play and thinking come together. Instead of a marble run with a fixed ending, you get a movable, adaptable system that invites you to keep building and improving. See what works and what needs a tweak, test it out, and adjust the track along the way. Obstacles become a welcome challenge and a chance to make the smart marble run even more spectacular.

The different parts work on all kinds of surfaces, from walls and wooden floors to the grass outside. Combine Marblelous with LEGO bricks to unlock even more creative possibilities, like building towers or special pathways by mixing the two brands. This allows every set to grow with its builder. It brings children, parents, and other adults together around the building table to discover and play side by side.

STEM.ORG certified

In 2022, Marblelous earned a certificate for its focus on STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Through STEM education, children learn essential skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork. This hands-on approach to learning prepares them for demanding, innovative careers and gives them a deeper understanding of the world. All simply by building, discovering, and trying things out.

With the building toys from Marblelous, children playfully explore STEM skills. Learning happens by doing rather than just watching. Roll marbles, test structures, and come up with solutions. That is exactly what Marblelous stands for and what makes these marble runs so worthwhile. Experience how things work firsthand and learn by experimenting along the way!

Types of toys

Start with the Marblelous Starter Set XL

Begin your Marblelous adventure with the Starter Set XL: the ideal first step into the world of smart marble runs. This set holds everything you need to build over 10 meters of marble track, from tracks and connectors to level switchers for discovering new routes. Take a vertical track up high, or lay out a full course across the table or in the yard. The possibilities are huge.

Even more marble fun with these expansions

Many Marblelous sets already come packed with different parts. You can also expand the sets with controllers, robots, sensors, and much more. Along with pairing Marblelous with LEGO, plenty of other options await.

DIY marble runs

With Marblelous, the building goes beyond the sets themselves. Everyday household items make great additions to your marble run, giving your creativity even more room to build elaborate systems. Use an empty paper towel or toilet paper roll as a tunnel for the marbles to zoom through. The armrest of a chair serves as a riser, and a stack of books becomes a long drop. By combining, testing, and adjusting, children playfully discover how speed and gravity work.

Ages and stages for Marblelous

The marble runs and creative sets from Marblelous cater to different ages. Most sets suit children ages 8 and up, fitting right in with kids who love to build, test, and figure out how things work. Other sets invite builders as young as 5 to start experimenting. Because building goes hand in hand with problem-solving, many marble runs grow right along with the builder. There is a good reason the sets are described as toys for everyone from 8 to 108 years old.
